Team China secured first place by a landslide in the 34th IOI, held from August 7 to 15 in Indonesia. A total of 536 contestants from more than 90 countries and regions participated the competition, including online contestants from 18 countries and regions.

Dai also took home first place in Romanian Master of Mathematics 2021 and got the full score in Mathematical Olympiad in China.

He said his strengths lie on “thinking a lot and deep”. For him, informatics is like a special language made up of numbers, with its own logic of expression. His suggestion to study mathematics or informatics is to conduct independent inquiry, draw different inferences, and make connections with prior knowledge to dig deep into what’s behind a problem.
