Jiangsu has more than 90,000 professionals working in its booming intellectual property sector, according to the province’s work conference on IP development.
Zhi Suping, director of the province’s Intellectual Property Administration, said Jiangsu has taken the national lead in jointly building an academy through the ministry-province cooperation mechanism. The program means a systematic effort to train intellectual property engineers, managers and patent agents.
At present, Jiangsu has built a well-rounded talent training system for intellectual property development, which consists of the academy, training bases, research institutions and distance education platforms.
Data showed, by the end of last year, a total of 6,232 people in Jiangsu had obtained patent agent qualification certificate. There were also 223 full-time teachers for the sector in the province's universities, which trained 2,283 undergraduates and 658 Master's and PhD students in the field of intellectual property.
Jiangsu is also home to 15 national leading figures in intellectual property and 23 people selected for the national intellectual property expert pool.
The province plans to build a pilot zone for the cultivation of top-notch intellectual property professionals through the development of the academy, training bases and think tanks. It aims to create a strong talent team for intellectual property sector and also optimize the career development environment forthe professionals.
