Rengfengli Historic and Cultural Block in Yangzhou (CFP)
Jiangsu has contributed six best practices in the preservation and development of historic and cultural districts to the list released by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development on August 21.
In terms of improving the living environment, the Renfengli Historic and Cultural Block in Yangzhou was recognized for its efforts in enhancing infrastructure and public service facilities, including water, electricity, gas, and fire safety. The district also renovated unused residential buildings into cultural spaces, canteens and libraries to improve the community life.
Pingjiang Historic and Cultural Block in Suzhou
The Pingjiang Historic and Cultural Block in Suzhou and the Shushan Gu’nan Street in Yixing were also recognized nationwide. Pingjiang has taken measures to protect ancient buildings and enhance the quality of people’s life, achieving a harmonious integration among culture, tourism and community.
Shushan Gu’nan Street in Yixing
Shushan Gu’nan Street has established a platform for the development of the Zisha teapot culture by preserving the original production sites and relics of the craft from different periods, thus achieving an integrated development of the traditional crafts and modern life.
Besides, Jiangsu has three more projects recognized on the list for institutional innovation, including the fire safety guidelines for heritage building renewal in Suzhou and the technical guidelines for the renovation of residential buildings in Yangzhou.
