The Jiangsu Charity Federation has supported 348 key projects and provided a relief fund of 1.949 billion yuan since its establishment in 2005.

Li Xiaomin, head of the federation, made the statement at the province’s charitable project exchange meeting held in Yangzhou City on July 9.

From 2021 to 2023, charity federations across the province implemented 7,537 projects and committed 8.431 billion yuan in aid. This included distributing medicines provided by China Charity Federation worth 2.287 billion yuan. Half of these projects are focused on helping students, the needy, and patients.

In one project, rural families with financial difficulties in Yangzhou were supported in installing photovoltaic panels on their roofs. These families can use the solar power themselves and sell the surplus electricity to increase their incomes.

Xuzhou City has featured its intangible cultural heritage in supporting disadvantaged families. Guo Guannan, a master of the city’s unique scented cachets, noted that the charity project has been underway for six years and helped trainees increase their incomes.
