Heads of organizations that promote people-to-people friendship between China and Japan held a conference both on-site and online on June 28.
Participants signed the "Nanjing Initiative" in the meeting and pledged to advance exchanges and cooperation as 2022 marks the 50th anniversary of the normalization of China-Japan relations.
Efforts will be made to support Jiangsu’s closer ties with Japan in various fields. The conference, as a platform for communication, will be held annually in Jiangsu and Japan alternately.
The Jiangsu Association for Friendship and International Exchanges also signed cooperation MOUs with organizations in Aichi, Osaka and Okayama. Friendship associations from prefectures, cities and towns in Japan exchanged ideas with their counterparts in Jiangsu in the meeting.
Since the resumption of diplomatic ties between the two countries, 36 cities in Jiangsu have formed friendship ties with those in Japan, the highest number in China.
