Athletes from Jiangsu's universities won 24 medals, including 15 golds, 5 silvers and 4 bronzes, at the 31st FISU World University Games that closed on August 8, accounting for 13.5% and 14.6% of China's total number of medals and gold medals, respectively.

Jiangsu athletes won 24 medals in swimming, gymnastics, track and field, volleyball, badminton and rowing. Among them, Zhang Yufei of Southeast University won nine golds in swimming.

Sixteen of Jiangsu's athletes are from the Nanjing Sport Institute and the rest are from comprehensive universities such as Nanjing University, Nanjing Normal University, Southeast University, Soochow University and Yangzhou University.
