Jiangsu athletes shine at Chengdu Universiade

Athletes from Jiangsu Province have made impressive achievements at the Chengdu FISU World University Games.

On August 6, China defeated Japan 29-27, 29-27, 25-22 to win the women's volleyball gold medal at the Chengdu Universiade. Wu Mengjie, an undergraduate student from Nanjing Normal University, played a key role as the lead attacker in the victory.

In addition, athletes from the province's other universities, such as Southeast University, Soochow University, Yangzhou University and Nanjing Sport Institute have also played their best in various events.

Zhang Yufei of Southeast University claims 7 gold medals

By August 5, Zhang Yufei had secured seven gold medals, including four in relays and three individual crowns. This included her winning in the 100-meter butterfly and mixed 4×100 meters freestyle relay within 20 minutes.

Gao Lan of Soochow University gets 1 gold and 1 bronze medal

On August 5, Gao Lan won the gold medal with her teammates in the Women's 20km Race Walk Team Final. She also took the bronze in women's 20km race walk with 1:35:28.

Nanjing Normal University student wins gold in men's hammer throw

Wang Qi from Nanjing Normal University secured the men's hammer throw title with 73.63 meters on August 4.

Yangzhou University makes breakthrough

Ji Jie from Yangzhou University, together with her teammates won the gold medal in Women's 20km Race Walk Team Final on August 5, also the first gold for Yangzhou University at the Chengdu Universiade.

On the next day, the university's student Chen Tianyu was among the China team that captured silver in men's half marathon team competition.

Nanjing Sport Institute students clinch gold

After two days of competition, Shi Cong, student from Nanjing Sport Institute, and his teammates clinched gymnastics men's team title with 262.594 points at the Chengdu Universiade, while Japan took silver and South Korea claimed bronze.

On August 4, Shi became the silver medalist in the Men's Individual All-Around, while his compatriot Zhang Boheng won the gold with a total of 86.733 points.

On August 5, Shi then won the second place with 14.600 points on the horizontal bar.

In the fencing women's epee team on August 5, China claimed a 34-28 victory over Italy. Team China included Xu Nuo and Shi Yuexin, both from Nanjing Sport Institute.
