Jiangsu boasts eight museums featured on the list of China’s top 100 most popular museums for the first quarter of 2024, a ranking released on April 7 with the support of the Art Exhibitions China.
The eight celebrated venues are the Yangzhou China Grand Canal Museum (7th), the Nanjing Museum (9th), the Suzhou Museum (11th), the Nanjing Museum Administration (26th), the Nantong Museum and the Museum of Wu (tied for 57th), the Changzhou Museum (64th), and the Deji Art Museum (97th).
In addition, five of the top 30 prefecture-level museums are from the coastal province, namely the Suzhou Museum (1st), the Nanjing Museum Administration (3rd), the Nantong Museum (8th), the Changzhou Museum (10th), and the Wuxi Museum (25th).
Jiangsu is also home to five of China’s top 30 thematic museums: the Yangzhou China Grand Canal Museum (1st), the Nanjing Yunjin Museum (18th), the Nanjing Imperial Examination Museum of China (20th), the Jiangsu Jianghai Museum (27th), and the Henry C. Lee Museum of Forensic Sciences (28th).
Among the 30 most popular new museums, Jiangsu claims two: the Kunshan Opera Museum (13th) and the Huaiyang Cuisine Museum (30th).
