Nanjing Lukou International Airport is experiencing an influx of outbound and inbound passengers as the Tomb-sweeping Day, also known as Qingming Festival, approaches.
The Qingming Festival is a time to honor the deceased and worship ancestors. A significant portion of the passenger surge is attributed to overseas Chinese returning for family visits and sweeping tombs.
During the Qingming holiday from April 4 to 6, the airport expects to receive an average of 9,000 tourist trips daily, with a single-day record of over 10,000 trips, according to the Nanjing Entry-Exit Border Inspection Station.
Additionally, with the summer-autumn aviation season starting on March 31, the airport is set to increase international flights to popular destinations. Currently, the airport operates over 20 passenger routes to more than 10 countries and regions, including South Korea, Singapore, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Italy and Australia.
