Suzhou launched a travel incentive program on April 22 to boost tourism hit hard by the COVID-19 outbreak and support consumption rebound.
In the spring tourism promotion, the city will work with online travel agencies (OTAs) including Ctrip.com and ly.com to send 500,000 gifts to inbound tourists, such as bus card, ticket to one of seven classical gardens, boat ride, ticket to one of real-life scenery performances, and other products.
The city encourages hotels to offer cheap deals to inbound tourists in order to extend their stay time. More than 3,000 hotels have planned to join this promotion, according to OTA data. Cultural and tourism authorities will also provide more incentives, such as gifts to tourists staying at those hotels.
The city also prepares 200,000 gifts to be given to local residents mainly through local agencies amid efforts to increase the travel diversity and quality, such as nighttime visits and cultural tours. Visitors choosing a route combining stop at a scenic spot and nighttime tour will get a subsidy of ten yuan per visitor.
The city’s cultural and tourism authorities will make timely changes to maximize the effect of the tourism promotion incentives.
