Jiangsu's Party chief calls for all-out efforts to help foreign-invested companies

Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Committee, held a meeting with foreign-invested enterprises in Suzhou City on March 4 following an inspection of local efforts to both control the COVID-19 epidemic and resume work and operation.

He said that foreign-funded enterprises are an important part of Jiangsu's economy and the province will go all out to offer efficient, targeted services in helping address difficulties and promoting their better development.

Lou held a meeting after visiting companies including Wistron Infocomm Manufacturing, Tetra Pak Packaging, KONE, Q Technology and Santen Pharmaceutical.

Lan Shaomin, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Jiangsu Committee and secretary of the CPC Suzhou Committee, introduced the epidemic prevention and control in the city and the resumption of production and businesses.

Executive managers from Pegatron, NGK Automotive Ceramics, Panasonic Industrial Devices Discrete Semiconductor, Knorr-Bremse Systems for Rail Vehicles and AU Optronics participated in the meeting.

Lou noted that at present all areas in Jiangsu are of low risks of COVID-19 so enterprises can be assured to focus on development. He also expressed thanks to foreign-invested enterprises for their understanding, support and help in epidemic prevention and control.

Lou said that governments at all levels must offer better services to enterprises and shall not affect their return to work on the reason of insufficient supply of protective materials against the epidemic.

Government should not take excessive measures currently, in case the logistics supply, entry and exit of foreign businessmen are affected, and the approval of foreign-invested projects are delayed, said Lou.

Lou also emphasized that it is necessary to enable interlinked, supportive enterprises across regions to resume work at the same time, facilitate the supply and demand, reduce the cost of the import and export, and assist workers to get back to office and organize job fairs to meet the demand for highly skilled talents.
