Jiangsu’s transport system has gone all out to boost prevention and control of the novel coronavirus outbreak and support companies to resume work and production, in line with plans and guidelines of the CPC Jiangsu Committee, the provincial government and the Ministry of Transport.
The latest data showed, on March 16, nearly 2.18 million vehicles passed through the exits of highways in Jiangsu, a year-on-year growth of 6.6 percent. The province’s 13 cities have all resumed public transport service, which also changes flexibly in accordance to requirements to combat the pandemic and resume work. Bus service in cities is increasingly getting on track too, and all ride-hailing service in the province is gradually resumed.
After Jiangsu’s five cities - Nanjing, Wuxi, Xuzhou, Changzhou and Suzhou- resumed metro service, Huai’an is the latest to bring back the tram, increasing the total number of rail transit lines at service to 24. The metro service linking Kunshan and Shanghai has not been resumed yet.
Data showed on March 16 the rail transit network in Jiangsu transported over 2.06 million passengers, up 72.3 percent month-on-month.
In addition, the province’s 13 cities that have subordinate districts have all resumed long-distance bus service, but both the route to Beijing and chartered bus service are still suspended.
