Yangzhou, a historic city along the Grand Canal, has nurtured one of the most remarkable chapters in the history of Chinese woodblock printing.

Chen Meiqi, a recognized master of woodblock printing from Yangzhou and director of the Guangling Ancient Block Printing Workshop, has long served as both a guardian and a storyteller of this cultural heritage, which was inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2009.

Her team upholds exceptionally high standards: using traditional pine soot ink and pure handmade Xuan paper. In their hands, the ancient craft - originating in the Sui and Tang dynasties and flourishing in the Ming and Qing dynasties - has been given a new life.
