By the end of April this year, Jiangsu’s renewable energy capacity had reached 72.04 million kilowatts, just six months after hitting 60 million kilowatts.
Among Jiangsu’s cities, Yancheng ranked first with a renewable energy capacity of 14.77 million kilowatts, or 20% of the provincial total.
The renewable energy sources in Jiangsu primarily include wind, solar, and biomass energy. The installed capacity for solar power generation alone reached 45.9 million kilowatts, experiencing significant growth in the first four months of the year.
Currently, renewable energy accounts for 38.8% of Jiangsu’s total power generation capacity. This marks a substantial increase from the 28.8% share in 2021 and doubles the figure reported at the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-2020).
Jiangsu is now accelerating its support for industrial parks in incorporating the use and storage of green electricity as well as other new technologies. By 2030, the installed capacity of renewable energy in Jiangsu is projected to account for more than 50% of the total, reaching 150 million kilowatts.
