Jiangsu has recently released a pilot program aimed at achieving “dual carbon goals” - peaking carbon emissions by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060, providing guidelines for participating cities, industrial parks and enterprise to embrace green transformation.
As May 15 marks the National Low-Carbon Day in China, a visit to the near net-zero emission zone within the Dafeng Industrial Hub in Yancheng City reveals various eco-friendly practices.
The zone features a footpath built with solar panels, with a daily electricity generation of 18 kWh.
A parking shed for non-motorized vehicles has its roof covered with solar panels. The roofs of many factories within the park are also equipped with larger photovoltaic modules to convert the sunlight into electricity.
Solar power generation is renewable with zero carbon emission or pollution compared with fossil fuel power plants. The industrial park also provides solar power storage units, which can help enterprises reduce electricity costs and ensure the reliability and stability of power supply.
Furthermore, an integrated energy management system can monitor electricity generation and collect data on the use of water, electricity, gas and heat, providing a real-time visualization of carbon emissions and facilitating the enhancement of green performances.
The pilot zone is expected to generate about 8 million kWh per year, equivalent to saving 2,700 tonnes of coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 8,600 tonnes.
