Yangtze River Delta’s foreign trade hits record high in first two months

The total value of imports and exports in the Yangtze River Delta region hit a record high of 2.47 trillion yuan in the first two months, which represented an increase of 10.5% year-on-year and accounted for 37.3% of the country’s total, according to customs data.

Encompassing Shanghai and the provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui, the delta region is one of China’s most vibrant, open and innovative city clusters.

During this period, exports of machinery and electronic products from the region saw significant growth, with increases of 12.8% in Jiangsu, 21.5% in Zhejiang and 24% in Anhui. The foreign trade of high-tech products in the region grew by 7.5% year-on-year.

Trade by private enterprises amounted to 1.33 trillion yuan, up 18.8% year-on-year. Meanwhile, the region’s trade with countries in the Belt and Road Initiative and RCEP member countries reached 1.11 trillion yuan and 728.2 billion yuan, respectively.
