Yangtze River Delta’s GDP amounts to over 30 trillion yuan in 2023

The total GDP of the Yangtze River Delta region reached 30.5053 trillion yuan in 2023, accounting for about 24.2% of the country's total.

Encompassing Shanghai and the provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui, the region has played an increasingly important role in leading the country’s economic development and continues to serve as a key stabilizer of the national economy.

Specifically, the GDP of Shanghai, Jiangsu and Anhui reached 4.72 trillion yuan, 12.82 trillion yuan and 4.71 trillion yuan, respectively, marking year-on-year growths of 5%, 5.8% and 5.8%, according to the government work reports. Data from the Zhejiang Provincial Bureau of Statistics showed that the province’s GDP increased by 6% year-on-year to 8.255 trillion yuan in 2023.

Overall, the delta’s GDP increased by 1.4 trillion yuan or an average of 5.65%, higher than the national average growth rate of 5.2%.

Notably, Changzhou City in Jiangsu became the 9th city in the delta region to boast a GDP of over one trillion yuan.
