In the first five months of this year, Jiangsu's foreign trade with countries engaged in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) amounted to 600.65 billion yuan, a record high for the same period, accounting for 29.3% of the province's total, according to Nanjing Customs.
The province's Hai'an City boasts a competitive furniture industry, and it's local products have been widely exported to Southeast Asia, the Middle East and other BRI countries. On June 25, Haoyu Furniture Co Ltd finished pre-export inspection for a batch of bathroom cabinets prior to delivery to Saudi Arabia. The company's inspector Hu Zhaodong said the goods are worth nearly $50,000 and the company has received more orders this year since completing the export registration with customs.
Changshu City is a major supplier of clothing, accessories and household hardware tools, which are popular among countries along BRI. On June 25, Haofu Packaging, located at Mocheng subdistrict in Changshu City, delivered glass bottles worth over 1.03 million yuan to Saudi Arabia.
"The glass bottles are mainly used for perfume containers, and Middle Eastern customers have a greater demand for such supplies. Our products are very popular and this year we have exported five batches of goods through the market procurement trade," said Fu Jiao, manager of Haofu Packaging.
In Zhangjiagang City, the distribution center for imports and exports of Eternal Tsingshan Group has exported 543,000 pieces of infrastructure equipment and consumables in 28 shipments in the first five months of the year, including a batch of components of large frame structure shipped to Indonesia, according to the center's manager Xie Wengui.
In the warehouse of Xingang Logistics Co Ltd in Taicang City, board game products are packed and ready for shipment. The company's business manager Luo Zhihao said the products are quite innovative, making them popular not only in the domestic market but also attracting customers in Malaysia, Thailand and other BRI countries.
