Jiangsu's tourism revenue reaches 19 bln in Dragon Boat Festival holiday

Jiangsu witnessed a total of over 18.81 million domestic tourist trips during the three-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday, marking a 117.7% increase from the same period last year, according to the province's Department of Culture and Tourism on June 24.

Tourism revenue reached 19.118 billion yuan during the holiday which lasted from June 22 to 24, up 108.6% year-on-year, as reported by the department.

During the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, the province's 633 A-class scenic spots and 581 rural tourism sites under monitoring received over 12.38 million tourist trips, generating a total revenue of 3.32 billion yuan, an increase of 151.84% and 152.54%, respectively, compared to the same holiday last year.

Data also showed 45 cultural and tourism venues, recognized as province-level nighttime economy destinations, received about 2.83 million visits and generated a revenue of 861 million yuan, from 6:00 pm on June 22 to 6:00 am on June 24, representing a growth of 163.15% and 162.48% than the figures in 2022, respectively.

In addition, the province welcomed over 4.43 million tourist trips from other regions. Nanjing, Suzhou and Wuxi emerged as the top three cities in terms of the number of tourists received. The province's most popular destinations included the Confucius Temple - Qinhuai River scenic belt, the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum and Xuanwu Lake in Nanjing, as well as Suzhou's Pingjiang historical district and Shantang Street.

According to China UnionPay, the total cultural and tourism spending during the holiday in Jiangsu reached 5.125 billion yuan, accounting for 10.32% of the country's total and ranking first nationwide. Among them, the night time consumption amounted to 1.481 billion yuan.
