Jiangsu's GDP in first three quarters amounts to 8.865 trillion yuan, up 2.3%

The GDP of east China’s economic powerhouse Jiangsu Province grew 2.3% year on year to reach 8.8652 trillion yuan in the first three quarters, according to the provincial Statistical Bureau on October 29.

The added values of Jiangsu‘s primary, secondary and tertiary industries in the period were 269.21 billion yuan, about 4.01 trillion yuan and 4.59 trillion yuan, respectively, up 3.5%, 2.8% and 1.7% year-on-year.

The province saw a stable agriculture production as the added value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery climbed 4.5% year on year to hit 514.97 billion yuan.

During the accelerated recovery of industrial production, the equipment manufacturing industry played an important role. The added value of industrial enterprises above designated size expanded 4.5% year on year.

Jiangsu also maintained a strong growth of high-tech industry as companies in this category contributed to 48.9% of the added value of industrial enterprises above designated size, 0.8 percentage points higher than the same period last year.

In addition, these companies also saw the added value increase of 10.9% year on year, 6.4 percentage points higher than the growth rate of industrial enterprises above designated size.
