A trade route across the Arctic Ocean from Lianyungang City to St. Petersburg was opened on October 27, which is also a new trade channel for Jiangsu.
The trade route operated by Unitrans Group links Taicang, Lianyungang and St. Petersburg with a vessel that has a carrying capacity of 650 containers.
The service, currently once per month, helps save transportation cost and enhance efficiency. In the past, exports from Lianyungang to St. Petersburg should undergo transitions at ports en route and get transported by trains in a journey of about 60 days. Now it only takes about 30 days.
