Jiangsu launched its first multimodal transport service to Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan from the Lianyungang SCO International Logistics Park on October 13.
A cargo train with 42 containers departed from the park and will arrive in Kashgar of Xinjiang first. Via Irkeshtam Port, the cargo will be transported by trucks to Kyrgyzstan and finally Uzbekistan, a journey of about 20 days.
Compared with the previous route via Xinjiang's Horgos Port, the new line is nearly 500 km shorter in mileage and 3 to 5 days shorter in transport time.
In the future, textile equipment, new energy vehicles, home appliances and other commodities from Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai will be transported to the Central Asian market through this new route. Quality agricultural products from the region will also be imported to China.
