The number of China-Europe freight train trips in Jiangsu Province this year reached 1,380 by September 14, up 21.7% year-on-year.

Considering the COVID-19 outbreaks, the congestions at ports and other difficulties, the freight train services have played an important role in keeping foreign trade and investment stable and promoting smooth operation of the supply and industrial chains.

In this period, the province’s capital Nanjing operated 8 chartered freight train trips for LG and 28 trips for Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group (XCMG), a major construction machinery manufacturer. The freight train services also reached destinations in Myanmar and Thailand, delivering goods worth 230 million yuan.

Lianyungang also gave full play to the China-Kazakhstan logistics base, the sea-rail intermodal transportation, and its geographical advantage as one of the most convenient sea ports for Central Asia. The city’s freight trains helped transport products from Japan and South Korea, and brought back cargos from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan too. The number of freight train trips from Lianyungang to Central Asia ranked among the highest in China.
