More than 100,000 China-made vehicles have been exported through the port in Lianyungang City in Jiangsu Province this year, reaching the shipment milestone two months earlier than last year.
The port saw the export of more than 20,000 vehicles in July alone, a record high for the same period and a growth for seven consecutive months.
Liu Honghai, marketing director of the port’s Oriental terminal, said the achievement owns much to the convenient customs clearance. In addition to carmakers like SAIC and Chery, Chang'an Ford, an automotive manufacturing company headquartered in Chongqing, also used freight train to transport vehicles first to the port and then shipped the vehicles to overseas markets.
To ensure the healthy and stable development of the vehicle export, Lianyungang Customs have optimized the customs clearance process. Meanwhile, efforts were made to make use of the multimodal transport information platform and work with railway authorities and agencies to share data and get ready for speedy logistics. This has promoted the smooth coordinated operations among vehicle loading/unloading and transportation, which cut costs and enhanced the utilization rate of sites at the terminal.
