Shenghong refining and petrochemical complex, with an annual processing capacity of 16 million tons of crude oil, was officially put into operation at Xuwei New Area in Lianyungang City on May 16.

The 67.7 billion-yuan project, the largest of its kind in China, is one of three major private refining-petrochemical projects supported by the State Council. A key industrial initiative in Jiangsu Province, it’s also part of the national efforts to improve petrochemical layout and lay a solid foundation to guarantee basic raw materials to the country.

The main devices put into operation on the day included a distillation unit and facilities for sulfur recovery and flare gas desulphurization. Shenghong will continue to align its development with national industrial needs and build a full-fledged industry chain across refining and petrochemical sectors.
