Jiangsu saw 42,000 invention patents in the first half of this year, an increase of 37.0% year-on-year, and the average ownership of invention patents reached 45.7 per 10,000 people, maintaining first place in China, according to the province’s work conference on intellectual property on August 10.

Data showed the province's intellectual property service offices received a total of 944,000 jobs, a year-on-year growth of 6.4%. Among them, 1,363 jobs were related to patent right restoring, procedures delayed due to COVID-19 outbreaks, and this also marked a service capacity enhancement for individuals and companies.
Data also showed, in the first half of the year, the province saw transfer of 27,000 patents and supported 1,493 SMEs to obtain loans of 13.72 billion yuan through using intellectual property assets as collateral, up 73.7% year on year. The percentage of companies that got inclusive finance loans less than 10 million yuan was 87.0%, 15.8 percentage points higher than the national average ratio. In Jiangsu, intellectual property has played more prominent goals in building company’s resilience and stable growth.
In the same period, Jiangsu received a number of important intellectual property awards. RAYCAN Technology Co Ltd (Suzhou) became one of five first-ever winners of WIPO’s new Global Awards program, which recognizes exceptional enterprises and individuals using intellectual property to make a positive impact at home and abroad. Jiangsu has three companies on the list of top 20 performers in the WIPO Global Awards program.
