Wu Zhenglong, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, met Alex Gu, senior vice president and president of Medtronic's Greater China Region, as the American medical device company signed an agreement for its development at Changzhou National Hi-tech District.

Medtronic, a global leader in medical technology, services and solutions, completed its acquisition of Kanghui Holdings, a provider of orthopedic devices in China, in 2012. Medtronic’s complex in the district will include an intelligent manufacturing centre, a R&D centre, an innovation incubation centre and a clinical centre. The company will strengthen its medical device R&D and clinical service, which will help transform the Yangtze River Delta into a powerhouse of medical technology innovation.

Wu welcomed Medtronic's increased investment and expressed appreciation for the company's contribution to Jiangsu's development over the years. Medtronic has made fruitful development in the coastal province.

Gu said that Jiangsu is an important destination for Medtronic's investment in China, and the close cooperation with Changzhou over the years has also enhanced confidence to expand the investment.
