Nanjing will increase the minimum wage standards since August 1, according to the Nanjing Bureau of Human Resources and Social Security.

The statutory minimum monthly wage for the capital city of Jiangsu Province will start from 2,280 yuan, and the minimum payment for part-time work is 22 yuan per hour.

The minimum wage does not cover the following expenses which shall be paid separately by the employer in accordance with regulations, such as payment for extra hours, allowances in case of abnormal work shifts, high or low temperatures, or harmful workplace environment, and other welfare benefits as stipulated by laws, regulations and the state.

The bureau has also urged employers of all types to adjust their wages accordingly and ensure the timely payment to workers. Meanwhile, human resources and social security departments at all levels will increase supervision and effectively safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of workers.
