Ye Cong, a researcher of the China Ship Scientific Research Center (CSSC), became one of ten national winners of the 24th CAST-Qiu Shi Science and Technology Commercialization Award.
Now deputy director of Wuxi-based China Ship Scientific Research Center, the young scientist of Jiangsu Province is a leading figure in China's deep-sea equipment research and manned submersible technology. Ye was the chief designer of the manned submersible Jiaolong, deputy chief designer of the manned submersible Shenhai Yongshi, or "deep-sea warrior," chief designer of the passenger submersible Huandao Jiaolong and manned submersible Fendouzhe (Striver).
Long engaged in design theory and technical research, he has made systematic and creative achievements in manned submersibles and pressure-resistant structures for deep-sea applications.
Ye has also participated in various types of submersible tests including a diving record of 10,124 meters under water.
Young researchers are seen as the driving force behind the country's scientific and technological innovation. The award aims to encourage the application and commercialization of new technologies to promote the country’s economic growth.
