Envision AESC, a world leader in the development of EV battery technology, kicked off the construction of its Phase II project in Jiangyin Lingang Economic Development Zone in Wuxi City on February 7.
The Phase I project began operation in 2021. With an investment of over 10 billion yuan, the Phase II project will have an annual capacity of 15 GWh when it is put into service next year.
The company runs a booming industrial hub of EV battery production and "smart turbine" manufacturing in Jiangyin, with a goal to lead the transformation of net zero emissions.
Jiangyin, a county-level city under the administration of Wuxi, is a well-known industrial powerhouse in China. It has made it a top priority to develop the new energy sector in building a modern industrial system. Jiangyin is home to 60 enterprises specialized in the new energy fields, such as Envision, JZNEE and SINOJIT Wind Energy Technology. The county’s industries of wind power, photovoltaic and lithium battery boast a total output value of 57.8 billion yuan.
