The ferronickel smelter plant invested by Jiangsu Delong Nickel Industry in Morowali Utara county, Indonesia has been recognized as the country’s strategic development.
The smelter, PT Gunbuster Nickel Industry, located in PT Virtue Dragon Nickel Industry park, has adopted the world's most advanced production process with competitive performance in energy saving, environmental protection, and efficiency.
The Delong industry park started its construction in 2014 and has now completed an investment of over 30 billion yuan. It’s home to a complex of nickel-iron alloy production and nickel production base, flagship projects in the Belt and Road initiative and the country’s large state industrial development.
In the past, Indonesia mainly exported the raw material, nickel ore, directly, which had a low added value and serious environmental pollution. The China-invested industrial park will process nickel ore into ferronickel and stainless steel, increasing the value by 14-fold and 19-fold.
The project not only contributes to the tax revenue but also creates employment opportunities. It has a capacity of 3 million tonnes of ferronickel and 2.5 million tonnes of stainless steel, and offer nearly 30,000 jobs.
