Jiangsu Province held a meeting on the overseas legal service in the Belt and Road Initiative on October 26 in Wuxi City.

More than 60 people from the Chinese embassies in Cambodia and Namibia, overseas legal service centers and enterprises from 16 countries, including Singapore, Japan and Germany, participated the meeting jointly organized by the Foreign Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government, the province’s Department of Justice and the Development and Reform Commission.

Participants exchanged views under the theme of "coordinating foreign-related legal services and promoting Jiangsu’s role in the Belt and Road Initiative”.

Jiangsu plays a unique role in the initiative as both the country’s land-based and sea-based trade projects converge in the coastal province, an economic powerhouse. As of this August, Jiangsu had invested in 2,207 projects in 56 countries in the initiative, with an agreed investment amount of $21.94 billion. Meanwhile, foreign countries involved in the initiative invested in 2,216 projects in the province, with an agreed amount of $24.26 billion.

Jiangsu has opened 16 overseas legal service centers and also made efforts to form an international legal service network.
