Jiangsu has become the first in China to release the provincial technical guideline over smart construction site for arterial roads.
A smart construction site involves the full use of information technologies for resource integration and management innovation in building national and provincial highways. The technologies include Big Data, cloud computing, Internet of Things, mobile Internet and artificial intelligence. With various intelligent devices and sensors, the smart management system enables connection and coordination among 4M1E, which means man, material, machine, method, and environment, and facilitates science-based decision-making, intelligent monitoring and testing all in one. The data will also help make informed decisions in the road’s maintenance and operation.
The guideline is based on a number of pilot projects including renovation of Huaihe Bridge, construction of Jinhu section of the provincial highway S420, and expansion of Nanjing section of highway S126. It makes clear the requirements of a smart site, such as the framework, hardware and software, database, system integration, data interface, information security, operation and maintenance.
