Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Committee, chaired a meeting with heads of private enterprises in Suzhou City on October 10 to investigate the local economic condition and listen to opinions on compiling the 14th Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development.
In the symposium, Lou expressed thanks to business leaders on behalf of the committee and the Jiangsu Provincial Government. He said, in the face of the unprecedented COVID-19 outbreak, the province has achieved victories in both the pandemic response and economic and social development. In the first half of the year, Jiangsu’s GDP growth rose 0.9 percent year on year and the main economic indicators in the third quarter continued to pick up steam. Private firms have made significant contributions to these hard-won results.
Lou also said formulating the 14th Five-Year Plan is important to new progress in building Jiangsu into a province with “a strong economy, well-off people, beautiful environment, and a highly civilized society” as well as a new journey toward fully building a modern socialist China. In compiling the policy blueprint, Jiangsu will sufficiently carry forward democracy, build a broad consensus, and bring together all resources. Efforts will be made to fully reflect the society expectations, the wisdom of the masses, expert opinion and practices at the grass-root level. With a good understanding of the industry development and insights, entrepreneurs can offer more valuable suggestions, said Lou.
