As the second session of the 13th Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) opened in Nanjing on January 22，and the second session of the 14th Jiangsu Provincial People's Congress opened on January 23, deputies of the "two sessions" shared their suggestions to promote Jiangsu's economic and social development.

Enterprises are main players in economic activities and the most active contributor to innovation and new productive forces. It is vital to encourage innovators by all means and let enterprises play their roles in S&T and industrial innovation, so that they become the primary forces to integrate pro-innovation elements and apply innovative achievements, creating an innovation ecosystem that merges S&T, industry and finance. At the same time, it’s essential to improve the business environment, foster an innovation-friendly culture, cultivate and attract talent, and enhance competitiveness of industrial economy.

In terms of the overall economic situation, there are still more opportunities than challenges. In the “two sessions,” I proposed addressing three challenges in the manufacturing industry – the utilization of industrial data, the creation and management of industrial knowledge, and the application of artificial intelligence. My suggestion is to leverage our large language mode and Wuxi’s strengths in new forms of computing to develop an industrial knowledge service platform in order to accelerate new industrialization.

China's economy faces more opportunities than challenges, the fundamental trend of China's economic recovery and long-term positive outlook has not changed, and the factors supporting high-quality development continue to accumulate. In the new year, the macroeconomy and steel industry may encounter many difficulties, but Jiangsu has built up strengths in science, technology, education, industrial foundation, business environment and other aspects. Under the strong leadership of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and the provincial government, Shagang will forge ahead with more confidence. Committed to the overall requirements to “get practical, do better, become stronger, and grow bigger,” Shagang will make solid efforts on enhancing quality, green performance, supply chain, intelligent technologies and innovation. Shagang will accelerate its transformation towards high-quality growth and strive to become a first-class steel powerhouse featuring competitive benefits, efficiency and talent.

As a member of the China Democratic League and a cultural entrepreneur, I closely monitor the cultural sector and rural revitalization strategy. I submitted two proposals to this session. Firstly, to plan and build a museum dedicated to the New Jinling school of painting. This aligns with the call for “actively developing cultural programs and the cultural sector with the aim of building Jiangsu into a cultural powerhouse,” by Xin Changxing, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee. Secondly, in agricultural modernization, talents should serve at the countryside and culture should empower rural construction, development and governance. This responds to Xin’s emphasis on “promoting further the integrated development of the primary, secondary, and tertiary Industries in rural areas, and boosting the comprehensive rural revitalization.”

Hongdou aims to enhance return on assets in 2024. We will accelerate the transformation and upgrading of the group, develop our listed companies to be stronger and bigger through sustained growth, and enhance the market value to give back to shareholders and society. In pursuing high-end development, efforts will be made to increase the research and development of new products, improve the efficiency through intelligent transformation, continuously improve return on assets, and facilitate the quality-orientated expansion.
At present, the external environment has become more complex and severe with increased uncertainties, but we are full of confidence in the Chinese economy. This confidence comes from the consistent attention and support for the private economy from the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, and various favorable policies. This has certainly increased Hongdou’s confidence of development. Committed to listening to the Party, appreciating the Party and following the Party, the group will cherish the opportunity to speed up the development, actively carry forward the entrepreneurial spirit, and always manifest a spirit of daring to explore and working hard, contributing more to Chinese path to modernization.

My proposal focuses on "strengthening education on the hard-working spirit in primary and secondary schools and universities, and promoting rural revitalization and agricultural development." The government should offer policy support to promote this endeavor as well as rural vocational education, "double reduction" initiative aiming to ease the burden of excessive homework and off-campus tutoring for primary and middle school students, and agricultural and rural development, incorporating these efforts into the overall economic and social development. This will foster the mutual development of “new farmers”, which generally mean farmers who are tech-savvy and ready to apply modern business concepts in farming, and rural revival.
