The demonstration zone showcasing the integration of the Yangtze River Delta released a report on its ecological and environment quality in 2021 on June 5.
The air quality index (AQI) of the zone reported 87.4%, showing a continuous progress in 2021. It also found 45 days with slightly polluted air, one day with moderate air pollution, and not a single day with serious air pollution. From 2019 to 2021, the number of days with moderate air pollution decrease year by year.

The demonstration zone sits in the middle of the delta and consists of Qingpu District of Shanghai, Wujiang District of Suzhou in Jiangsu Province and Jiashan County of Jiaxing in Zhejiang Province.
The report was based on studies jointly conducted by the ecology and environment departments of Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and the demonstration area. It’s also China’s first such annual ecological and environmental quality studies across different administrative regions.
