As multiple regions in China have reported an increase in new COVID-19 cases, the Jiangsu Center for Disease Control and Prevention has called for the public to help fight the pandemic in six ways.

The Jiangsu CDC said one of the most effective measures to curb the spread is to maintain the travel restrictions and limit the gatherings. People are urged to take the nucleic acid testing voluntarily and early in order to address the new wave of COVID-19 infections.

First, people need to learn about local COVID-19 response measures implemented in a certain region before visiting and also report such visits according to requirements. Those arriving in a region with a residence history in the mid-/high-risk areas, same journey with confirmed cases in the last 14 days or health QR codes now in red or yellow should immediately report to the local response team and comply with requirements, such as temperature testing, check of nucleic acid testing, isolation for medical observation or health monitoring, in line with local measures.

Second, people should pay attention to official information and update on the outbreak and risk changes and avoid non-essential travel, especially to medium and high-risk areas of infection.

Third, those arriving in Jiangsu are suggested to closely monitor their health and avoid gatherings for 7 days.

Fourth, people should wear masks properly, wash hands regularly, improve ventilation, avoid shaking hands with others, and stay away from crowded places or places with poor ventilation. When in public places, people should wear masks, have temperature taken, and keep the physical distancing of at least 1 meter. Try not to organize or attend non-essential gathering.

Fifth, self-monitoring for COVID-19. If you have symptoms, such as fever, dry cough, fatigue, sore throat, loss of smell and taste or diarrhoea, do not take medication on your own. You should wear a mask and go to the nearest medical institution for testing and consultation as soon as possible. You should also take the initiative to inform your travel history and movements, and do not take public transport.

Sixth, get vaccinated and help build an immune barrier.
