The first Jiangsu Agricultural Science and Technology Festival opened at the national agricultural high-tech industry demonstration zone in Nanjing City on May 30, alongside with the 2021 Jiangsu Agriculture and Technology Integration Development Conference.

The events also unveiled the province’s first agricultural S&T service hub named after scientist Zhao Yafu, a workstation also named after Zhao and an academy of rural revitalization, both located in the demonstration zone.

Through the new workstation, ten researchers from the Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Zhenjiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences and other institutes will help promote the application of new technologies and operations in Lishui and also organize study tours to Japan.

In cooperation with Jiangsu Vocational College of Agriculture and Forestry and other platforms, the workstation aims to build a team of around 200 professionals to support countryside development. It has already selected about six villages for different pilot initiatives, such as the circular agriculture program in Zhishan Village.

The demonstration zone is now home to seven research institutes of universities, more than 80 research platforms above the city level, 200 high-level talents, and application of over 650 agricultural S&T achievements.  The zone also has 33 start-ups launched by experts or professors, 98 businesses established by university students and young entrepreneurs, and 131 companies included in the country’s Spark Start-up Program, a business incubator-like service under the Spark Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
