Wuxi Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention, along with its branch in Liangxi district and Wuxi No. 8 People’s Hospital, conducted epidemiological investigation to a suspected case of coronavirus pneumonia through remote video system on Jan. 31, making a provincial first.

At Wuxi Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention, two investigation groups made thorough survey and detailed record to the suspected case in three hours. 

In response to the pneumonia outbreak caused by novel coronavirus, disease control departments of municipal and district levels in Wuxi have set up epidemiological investigation teams, who are responsible for investigation and recording of suspected cases, sorting their close contacts and making sure that they are under 14-day medical observation.  

According to Wang Ting from Wuxi Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention, epidemiological investigation through HD remote video system is not only more time-effective, but also can lower the risk of cross infection and improve the quality of investigation. 

Local media says that by far there have been 120 epidemiological investigation stations all around Wuxi, covering all disease control departments of district and county levels, designated hospitals, some fever clinics and observation institutions.
