A 33.4 kg fish caught in Lixia River was sold for 26,680 yuan ($3,890) during the 9th fishing festival in Hai’an City, Jiangsu Province on January 18.
The festival, held at the city’s Xibo Tourism Zone, attracted tens of thousands of visitors and local residents. The highlight of the festival is bidding for the top fish, which often involves many rounds.
The festival also included other colorful activities, such as drawing fish by children and tasting fish soup free of charge. Meanwhile, visitors can buy a great variety of agricultural products that meet higher ecological standards at a bazaar ahead of the Spring Festival, China’s Lunar New Year.
