Jiangsu’s investment into transport infrastructure, including roads, railways and waterways, amounted to 178.26 billion yuan in the first eight months of the year, fulfilling 89% of the annual investment plan.
As of the end of August, construction had commenced on eight out of nine key transport infrastructure projects in the province.
In the period, the total volume of freight transport reached 1.99 billion tonnes, marking a 13.2% year-on-year growth.
The province also recorded 470 million passenger trips in the eight months, up 55.0% year-on-year, with notable growth observed since the onset of the summer travel peak on July 1. Railway and air passenger trips in the province surged to 190 million and 37.42 million, up 240% and 210% compared to the same period last year, respectively.
