Jiangsu has in recent years implemented a series of measures to build modernized fishing ports amid efforts to promote high-quality development of its marine economy.

The province features 20 fishing ports along its 954-kilometer coastline. It has completed 19 new and upgraded fishing ports (sheltered anchorage) with a total investment of 6.566 billion yuan. Efforts have also been made to extend the fisheries industry chain and increase its added value through developing deep processing, cold chain logistics, and integrating fishing with tourism.

Lyusi fishing port in Qidong is now one of China’s first six national-level fishing ports. It hosts over 1,000 fishing vessels year-round, with an annual offloading volume of 250,000 tonnes, representing one-third of Jiangsu's total.

The Liandao fishing port in Lianyungang has also experienced significant growth. Notably, the port integrates tourism into its development through initiatives including seafood festivals and sea sightseeing activities.
