The courier sector in Jiangsu Province processed 9.4 billion parcels with a total business revenue of 84.83 billion yuan in the first three quarters, up 12.6% and 10.7% year-on-year, respectively.

Efforts have been underway to prepare for the express delivery surge during the shopping season in November. The province is estimated to handle a total of 770 million parcels in two phases: November 1-3 and November 11-16.

To cope with the increase in parcel volume, the courier sector plans to add 89 automated sorting and processing units, 15,000 vehicles and 49 flights. This expansion will increase the daily parcel processing capacity from 80 million to 116 million.

Furthermore, Jiangsu is making strides in improving the end-customer delivery services. The province has established nearly 13,000 urban public service sites, nearly 8,000 rural drop-off and pick-up points, and around 40,000 smart courier box units.

To minimize carbon footprint, Jiangsu will continue the fight against excessive packaging and reduce the use of plastic packaging. The province encourages courier service providers to use green packaging materials and has also installed the recycling devices near universities and residential neighborhoods.
