Jiangsu’s service sector contributes 53% of regional GDP in first three quarters

Jiangsu’s value-added services output reached more than 4.94 trillion yuan in the first three quarters of the year, which marked a year-on-year growth of 5.3% and accounted for 53% of the province’s GDP during the period, an increase of 1.3 percentage points over last year.

Financial industry remained stable development, with an 8.5% increase in value-added output compared to the same period last year, according to the province’s Bureau of Statistics.

Smooth progress was also observed in tourism, culture, entertainment and transport services. From January to August, the value-added output by companies above the designated size from the railway and civil aviation transport sectors surged by 31.8% and 95.8% year-on-year, respectively. Additionally, travel agencies and related services saw an increase of 130% year-on-year in value-added output, and the growth at culture, sports and entertainment sector stood at 18.4%.

Amid the booming development of modern service industry, Jiangsu’s value-added in the information transmission, software and IT services sector grew by 14.7% year-on-year, and the leasing and business services sector witnessed a 12.1% expansion.

From January to August, enterprises above the designated size in the fields of Internet information services, Internet data services, Internet platforms, information systems integration and Internet of Things technical services saw growths of 17%, 27.3%, 16% and 15.9%, respectively.
