He Yawen, a specialist of Jintan paper-cutting at an art center in Changzhou City, has created a series of works in honor of those on the front line of the fight against the novel coronavirus pneumonia (NCP) outbreak. Like many other people, she also spends most of her time at home and avoids crowds to reduce infection risks during the outbreak. The first thing she wakes up every day is to read news about the epidemic. She has been both worried about the outbreak and also touched deeply by the sacrifices of medical workers and those on the front line.
“I believe we will win the final victory in the spring season, and I believe we will get our smiles back,” said the 32-year-old, who created the works themed “Stay strong China.”
The often intricately carved Jintan paper-cutting, as a folk art, was included in the list of national intangible cultural heritage in 2008.
