A dozen volunteers were busy loading a truck with 10 tons of vegetables in Qiangwei Village, Shuyang County, Jiangsu Province on February 26, to be sent to assist Xishui County in Huanggang City of Hubei Province, hit hard by the novel coronavirus outbreak.

“This is the 19th batch of vegetables that we have donated to Hubei. Each batch consists of 10 tons of vegetables, and we have already donated 190 tons of vegetables,” said Li Huazhong, head of Shanghaiqing (Pak Choi) Farm in the village.

The first batch of vegetables from the village was donated to Xianning City of Hubei on February 9. Later the vegetables were also transported to other cities of Hubei including Macheng, Qichun, Wuxue and Xishui.

Employees of the farm were unable to transport and load 10 tons of vegetables a day, so local villagers have volunteered to help.
