Jiangsu’s GDP up 4.6% in Q1

The gross domestic product of East China’s Jiangsu Province totaled more than 2.785 trillion yuan in the first quarter of this year, up 4.6% year on year, the provincial statistical bureau said on April 25. 

The respective added values of the province’s primary, secondary, and tertiary industries were 59.33 billion yuan, 1.228 trillion yuan, and 1.498 trillion yuan, up 3.1%, 5.3% and 4%. 

Jiangsu reported an adequate supply of livestock and poultry products during the period. The total output value of farming, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery climbed by 4.2% to 114.99 billion yuan. The growing area of summer grain crops rose slightly, while the number of hogs for slaughter and pork supply increased by 8.7% and 9.7% respectively.  

Data also showed that the added value of industrial enterprises above the designated size grew by 6.4% year on year. Of all 40 industrial sectors, 33 saw year-on-year growth. The added values of three manufacturing fields - computer communications and other electronic equipment, electrical machinery and equipment, and automobile -    increased by 13.7%, 12.1%, 13.5% respectively. 

The tertiary industry also maintained a stable recovery as the added value grew by 4% year-on-year. In breakdown, the software and IT service industry expanded by 10.9%, the transportation, storage, and postal services sector increased by 7.8%, and a growth of 5.9% for the financial sector.
