Jiangsu Province hosted a vocational skills competition for agricultural machine operation in Zhenjiang City on November 11 and 12, a first for the province’s agricultural industry.

The opening ceremony was held at the Jiangsu Vocational College of Agriculture and Forestry. The competition, featuring 26 contestants from the province’s 13 cities that have subordinate districts, included theoretical and operational components. The total score was derived from 20% for the theoretical part and 80% for the operational part.

The operational content includes identifying and resolving common problems with wheeled tractors, operating a combine harvester, and driving a tractor, said Sun Dongqun, deputy head of the Jiangsu Provincial Agricultural Machine Services Station. The total score was a combination of 40%, 30% and 30% for the three subjects, respectively.

The first-prize winner will be nominated for the "Jiangsu May Day Labor Medal" in accordance with required procedures.

Additionally, the top 6 contestants will receive the title of "Jiangsu Provincial Agricultural Skilled Worker" from the province’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. They will also be recognized as "Jiangsu Provincial Skilled Worker" by the province’s Department of Human Resources and Social Security, qualifying them for incentives in vocational title application and promotion.
