Nanjing University's Suzhou Campus will open in June of this year and welcome its first students in September, according to a press conference held by the city and the university on March 1.
The new campus began enrollment last year and admitted 503 undergraduates and 112 master and doctoral students, who are scheduled to study at the university's Gulou Campus for one year.
Suo Wenbin, assistant to the president of Nanjing University and deputy director of the Suzhou Campus Management Committee, said the new campus is for students in four undergraduate majors: Intelligent Science and Technology, Software Engineering (Intelligent Software), IC Design and Integrated Systems, and Digital Economy.
The Suzhou Campus is located at No. 1520 Taihu Avenue, Suzhou High-tech Zone, with a total area of approximately 108 hectares. Efforts are underway to accelerate the campus' construction, with the eastern zone to be delivered soon and the wester zone scheduled to be ready in 2025.
