The School of Atmospheric and Earth System Research, a joint program between Nanjing University and the University of Helsinki, is preparing to enroll undergraduate students.

Students who meet the requirements will be awarded bachelor's degree from both universities, according to the undergraduate admissions office of Nanjing University.

The University of Helsinki is the oldest and largest institution of academic education and research in Finland, with the atmospheric and Earth system science ranking among the world's best.

The two universities will integrate their strengths to develop a multi- and interdisciplinary talent training program that covers the bachelor's, master's degrees, and doctorate. This is expected to help address climate change, sustainable development, and other global issues that are common concerns for the international community.

Lyu Jian, President of NJU, sad that the university has 16 disciplines selected in China's "double first-class" development initiative, including atmospheric science, physics, chemistry, and biology.
